Confirmed Job Supplement (CJS) Program – NENAS will assist with application’s.  We assist with unemployed and underemployed people for Safety Tickets and Personal Protective Equipment.

Application Guidelines:

  • Book an appointment with a NENAS Employment Counselor for a counselling session.
  • Complete an Accountability Resources Management System (ARMS) application form; include a valid Social Insurance Number.
  • Provide a photocopy of identification; either one government issue picture ID or two pieces of other government issued identification.
  • Provide an updated resume and copies of any current safety tickets.
  • Provide a Letter of Request {1.) What tickets/training/equipment are you requesting assistance for and why; outline costs for each specific item. 2.) What is your career goal and why; how is the requested item(s) relevant to your career goal. 3.) Why do you feel you are a good candidate for NENAS sponsorship?}.
  • Provide a Letter of Guaranteed Employment from an Employer {1.)Should outline exactly what tickets/training/equipment are required in order to become employed with the employer. 2.) Should state that the employer is guaranteeing employment should you acquire the requested tickets/training/equipment. 3.) Should outline what the type of employment is [job title]. 4.) Should be on company letterhead and provide a contact name and number for the individual who has the authority to employ you for the company. 5.) Should include a completed Employer Information Form – wages and hours.}.

SDEB Non Trades –  This program is anywhere from 2 – 52 Weeks in length and they require a certification upon completion.

Application Guidelines:

  • Book an appointment with a NENAS Employment Counselor for a counselling session.

  • Provide a photocopy of identification; either one government issue picture ID or two pieces of other government issued identification.
  • Provide an updated resume and copies of any current safety tickets.
  • Provide a Letter of Request {1.) What skills you are wanting to develop through training. 2.) What training you want to take and why. 3.) What is/are your long-term career goal(s) and why?. 4.) How is this training relevant to your long-term career goal(s)? 5.) Why do you feel you will be successful in achieving your career goal(s)? 6.) Why do you feel you are a good candidate for NENAS funding? 7.) What support systems, if any, you have in place to ensure your success? 8.) What, if any, contributions and/or cost-share you are willing to provide if necessary? 9.) What other funding sources have you tied to access and whether or not you have been successful in securing other funding?.}
  • Provide an Occupational Research Form {1.) In order to complete this form, you must interview a minimum of three people involved in the career field you are planning to enter. All questions must be answered thoroughly and accurately. 2.) Contact information must be provided for verification purposes. 3.) Related job postings/descriptions, etc. should accompany this. 4.) Relevant Labour market research information as an attachment to this form should be included. 5.) One form must be completed for each of the occupations you have indicated as possible long-term career goals.}
  • Provide a Detailed Action Plan {1.) Should include short and long term goals. 2.) Your plan to obtain employment upon completion of training. 3.) Steps you will take in order to ensure your acceptance into your desired program. 4.) Steps you have already taken in order to achieve your short and long term career goal(s). 5.) If applicable, how is training taken previously relevant to your long-term career goal? 6.) How previous training has reinforced your decision to remain on this career path or as a result of previous training your career goals have changed – please provide an explanation. 7.) Highlights of previous training.}
  • Provide a Letter of Recommendation from one or more of the following: A Chief or Council member, community resource worker (Education Coordinator, Social Worker, Counselor, etc.), an employer or previous employer, outlining: 1.) S/he is aware of your career goal(s). 2.) Why s/he believes you will be successful at achieving your career goal(s). 3.) Why s/he feels you are a good candidate for NENAS funding.
  • Provide a First Nation Information: 1.) Letter from your Band or Department of Indian Affairs, stating that you have applied for funding and the outcome of that request (ie: rejection, cost-share, approval). 2.) For Non-status applicants, proof of self-declared non-status must provide (ie. who in your family line held their status, please note NENAS will go back as far as great-grandparent for this determination).
  • Provide Training Institute Information: 1.) Course description/outline. 2.) Details about the training you want to take (e.g. where does training take place, who offers the training, when does it start, how long is the training?) 3.) Outline of all related costs including tuition, books and supplies.
  • Provide Proof of Residency: 1.) Documented proof that you currently reside in the northeast BC area – must indicate your name and current address (ie. utility bill, current driver’s license, telephone bill, etc.) 2.) Document must also indicate a recent date.

SDEB Trades and Apprentice – This program is Trades and Apprentice we will assist them throughout their apprenticeship.

  • Provide a photocopy of identification; either one government issue picture ID or two pieces of other government issued identification.
  • Provide an updated resume and copies of any current safety tickets.
  • Provide a Letter of Request {1.) What training you are wanting to take and why? 2.) What is/are your short and long-term career goal(s) and why? 3.) How is this training relevant to your long-term career goal(s)? 4.) Why do you feel you will be successful in achieving your career goal(s)? 5.) Your plan to obtain employment upon receipt of your degree/certification. 6.)Why are you a good candidate for NENAS funding? 7.) What support systems, if any, do you have in place to ensure your success? 8.) What, if any, contributions and/or cost-share you are willing to provide is necessary?. 9.) Highlights of previous training.}

  • Provide Proof of Residency: 1.) Documented proof that you currently reside in the northeast BC area – must indicate your name and current address (ie. utility bill, current driver’s license, telephone bill, etc.) 2.) Document must also indicate a recent date.
